چکیده

Presented herein is an analytical approach based on homotopy analysis method (HAM) used to deal with the seventh-order Duffing type problem with high-order nonlinearity. Such a problem corresponds to the large-amplitude vibration of an electrostatically actuated microbeam. Unlike tradition HAM, the convergence-control auxiliary parameters ( ) i i 1,2 m = ħ ⋯ are introduced in the present approximation to improve the accuracy. To verify the efficient of present approach, illustrative examples are provided and compared between the results obtained by analytical and numerical method.

Mechanical Behavior of an Electrostatically-Actuated Microbeam under Mechanical Shock

In this paper static and dynamic responses of a fixed-fixed microbeam to electrostatic force and mechanical shock for different cases have been studied. The governing equations whose solution holds the answer to all our questions about the mechanical behavior is the nonlinear elasto-electrostatic equations. Due to the nonlinearity and complexity of the derived equations analytical solution are ...

A Numerical Improvement in Analyzing the Dynamic Characteristics of an Electrostatically Actuated Micro-beam in Fluid Loading with Free Boundary Approach

Electrostatically actuated microbeams have been studied by many researchers in the last few years. The aim of this study is to present an improved numerical analysis of the dynamic instability of a cantilever microbeam immersed in an incompressible viscous fluid. The finite element method is used for solving the vibrational equation of the microbeam and the potential functions of the fluids in ...

Pull-in behavior analysis of vibrating functionally graded micro-cantilevers under suddenly DC voltage

The present research attempts to explain dynamic pull-in instability of functionally graded micro-cantilevers actuated by step DC voltage while the fringing-field effect is taken into account in the vibrational equation of motion. By employing modern asymptotic approach namely Homotopy Perturbation Method with an auxiliary term, high-order frequency-amplitude relation is obtained, then the infl...

Homotopy Analysis Method for Nonlinear Dynamical System of an Electrostatically Actuated Microcantilever

The homotopy analysis method HAM is employed to propose an approach for solving the nonlinear dynamical system of an electrostatically actuated micro-cantilever in MEMS. There are two relative merits of the presented HAM compared with some usual procedures of the HAM. First, a new auxiliary linear operator is constructed. This operator makes it unnecessary to eliminate any secular terms. Furthe...

Correction to the Paper Capacitance Estimate for Electrostatically Actuated Narrow Microbeams

A novel estimate for the line-to-ground capacitance that accurately predicts the pull-in instability parameters for narrow electrostatically actuated microbeams is proposed. Parameters in the proposed formula are obtained by least square fitting data from a fully converged numerical solution with the method of moments. For a narrow microbeam, it is shown that the new formula significantly impro...
